Diane Von Furstenberg tells her story at ZU

World renown fashion designer, Diane Von Furstenberg paid a special visit to Zayed University to impart words of wisdom along the lines of empowerment, leadership and female entrepreneurs.

In a jam packed convention centre of more than 300 students and fashion enthusiasts, all attendees were in awe of Diane's grace and style. She told a story, one that captured everyone's attention and it was almost like as if she knew that this was going to get her Arab audience captivated, since story telling was the traditional form of entertainment back in the golden days.

She spoke about the obstacles faced when launching her business and was determined to do it even more when someone said "You really don't need anybody, with a showroom and a salesperson, you can do it all on your own", and that’s exactly what she did. Diane had her mother’s strong personality and drive, she re-iterates the importance of believing in yourself and says, “Life taught me to believe in my own dreams, and I will not wait for anyone to believe in my dreams before me”.
